We’ve all been there. It’s January 1st, and we write down a laundry list of ambitious goals for the year. But by mid-February, that list is buried under a pile of work, procrastination, and the comforting lie we tell ourselves: “I have 11 more months to do this.”
This year, I decided to break the cycle.
As a software developer and entrepreneur, I’ve realized that the biggest enemy of productivity is the illusion of time. When you set a yearly goal, your brain relaxes. It thinks there’s an infinite runway ahead. That’s why, for 2026, I am not making yearly resolutions. instead, I am setting Monthly Resolutions.
Why? Because a 30-day deadline creates urgency. It pushes you to act now, not tomorrow.
Here is my blueprint for January 2026—a mix of health, growth, and professional milestones that I’m committing to (publicly, for that extra peer pressure!).
1. Fixing the “Developer’s Sleep Cycle”
In the tech industry, wearing sleepless nights as a badge of honor is a dangerous trend. Late-night coding sessions have wrecked havoc on my biological clock, and I know I’m not alone.
- ** The Goal:** Asleep by 11:00 PM (Midnight is the absolute hard limit).
- The Why: Health debt is real. You might not feel it in your 20s, but it compounds. I’m choosing longevity over late-night scrolling.
2. Conscious Eating & Vitamin D
I consider myself health-conscious, but let’s be honest—those evening Samosas and Singaras (fried snacks) are hard to resist.
- The Goal: A strict NO to fried and fast food this month.
- The Add-ons: Incorporating Honey and Black Cumin (Kalijira) into my daily diet and soaking up 10–15 minutes of morning sun for that crucial Vitamin D boost.
3. Consistency in Content Creation
I’ve been inconsistent with my online presence, often ghosting my audience for weeks.
- The Goal: Publish one piece of content every single day.
- The Topics: I’ll be sharing insights on Business, Marketing, Corporate Culture, and Parenting. It’s not just about building a brand; it’s about documenting my journey and sharing what I learn.
4. Learning a New Language
This is a fun challenge to keep my brain sharp.
- The Goal: Reach a “conversational level” in a new language within 30 days.
- The Strategy: I haven’t picked the language yet, but the aim isn’t fluency. It’s functional communication. It’s about proving to myself that I can pick up a new skill quickly. I am asking for suggestion from you about which language I should try.
5. Leveling Up My English Proficiency
English is the global language of business, and while I’m comfortable with it, “good enough” is no longer the target.
- The Goal: Move from proficiency to mastery.
- The Focus: enhancing fluency, vocabulary, and articulation to communicate more effectively on a global stage.
6. The Big Launch: “Growth er Golpo” (Stories of Growth)
This is the one I’m most excited about.
- The Goal: Publish my first PDF eBook.
- The Context: In 2024-25, I wrote a series of newsletters covering business growth and marketing. I am compiling the best of those insights into a single, value-packed PDF titled “Growth er Golpo”. It was supposed to launch last November, but better late than never!
Final Thoughts: Why Share This Publicly?
Sharing goals publicly creates accountability. When you know people are watching, you are less likely to hit the snooze button.
I’m treating this article as a contract with myself—and with you.
Over to you: What is ONE thing you are strictly committing to this January? Let me know in the comments. Let’s hold each other accountable.
